Intesa Sanpaolo expands the voluntary information set on ESG commitment
22 April 2025
Intesa Sanpaolo transparently reports on its ESG achievements in 2024, going above and beyond its obligations. It does so through an integrated and articulated set of voluntary reports that reflect the Group's concrete commitment.
The wealth of information available gives an account of Intesa Sanpaolo's ability to generate benefits for all stakeholders, thanks also to the fact that it is among the most solid and profitable European banks.
With €20.4 bn in social lending, €9bn in green mortgages and €12.6bn for the circular economy disbursed in 2022-2024, 16% overall reduction in absolute financed emissions in the sectors targeted for decarbonisation (2024 vs 2023) and 54.1 million interventions in the Food and Shelter for those in Need programme (2022-2024), Intesa Sanpaolo is a role model in the field of sustainability.
The strong commitment to ESG, with a world-leading positioning for social impact and a strong focus on climate, is one of the four 'pillars' of Intesa Sanpaolo's 2022-2025 Business Plan.
Highlights of Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to sustainability as at 31 December 2024 include:

Precisely in order to guide and strengthen sustainability strategies as a factor of competitiveness and growth, Intesa Sanpaolo also created a new governance area last year called Chief Sustainability Officer entrusted to Paola Angeletti.
In greater detail, the voluntary reporting made available, which is in addition to the Consolidated Sustainability Report included in a separate section of the Consolidated Annual Report as required by law, is as follows:
- SDGs Report on the Group's contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, from this year a stand-alone document focusing on targets, actions, initiatives and results that contribute to the SDGs
- Climate Report providing climate-related information
- Responsible Banking Progress Statement on the progress achieved in respect of the UNEP FI Principles for Responsible Banking, the United Nations Environment Programme dedicated to the financial sector.
