Supporting the Third sector
The commitment to playing a leading role in the social and cultural growth of the community to which it belongs led Intesa Sanpaolo to build up its tools and initiatives in favor of Third sector organizations, called upon to overcome the increasing difficulties that public entities must face in order to provide citizens with adequate services.
The Group's Impact Department operates towards the Third Sector with an offer dedicated to its organizations, with a total funding as of 31.12.2024 of approximately 9 billion euro, of which approximately 6.5 billion in direct funding, loans of approximately 2.5 billion euro and during 2024, disbursement of loans of 272 million euro.
For Funding is the Group's social crowdfunding platform aimed at organizations, non-profit associations and foundations that want to start a fundraising campaign. The projects supported on For Funding cover different areas of intervention, including emergency and poverty, health care, social inclusion and community welfare, as well as the protection of the environment and cultural heritage. Each transaction is free of charge for the donor and the beneficiary. For Funding is a unique and distinctive model in the world of social crowdfunding and for lending to non-profit projects. In 2024, For Funding raised a total of 8.7 million in donations.
As part of the For Funding platform, the FORMULA programme continued, also accessible through the platform, which offers direct support to specific needs in favour of Italian local communities and to distinctive projects at national level. Every four months, with the involvement of the Regional Departments of Intesa Sanpaolo and with the technical support of the CESVI ETS Foundation, 13 non-profit organizations are selected to carry out important initiatives in their territory.
These organizations, together with CESVI, develop a targeted project and, thanks to a fundraiser on the platform, also supported by Intesa Sanpaolo, receive the necessary support to achieve concrete goals at the local level. Participation in the Formula program is also an opportunity for the participating NPOs to increase their ability to plan and report on initiatives also thanks to the technical support of CESVI. Since the launch of the programme, every three months the Bank's territorial structures have identified non-profit organisations of excellence at the local level that carry out essential interventions for the relief and development of communities in their territory, with which the Bank defines a dedicated project and launches a fundraiser to support it through the For Funding platform. In 2024, of the donations collected through For Funding, €6.1 million was allocated to the Formula programme.
The Bank has developed a rating model of social businesses that integrates the traditional methods of bank analysis with important elements for the non-profit organizations, such as the ability to fund raising, success in projects funded by Public bodies and Foundations.
In this way, we assess clients on elements of debt sustainability and social projects, that also take into account the peculiarities of the non-profit world and of its specific "intangible asset".
