Global Finance names Intesa Sanpaolo ‘Best Bank in Italy’
Digital practices recognised both in Italy and its Serbian operations by leading finance magazine.
Intesa Sanpaolo has been named ‘Best Bank in Italy’ by Global Finance magazine.
What is more, Banca Intesa Beograd, part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, has been awarded ‘Best Bank in Serbia’ in the same rankings.
Every year, with the help of financial analysts, Global Finance selects the top performers among international banks and financial providers. Criteria used to assess each bank include: sustainability of the business model; sound governance; progress achieved in the previous year; managerial excellence; innovative technology for customers; and leadership in digital transformation.
Intesa Sanpaolo became Italy’s first digital-first bank in February this year – with more than 8 million multi-channel customers, 3 million Intesa Sanpaolo Mobile app users and more than 53 million mobile transactions made between the beginning of 2018 and the start of 2019. In 2017, Forrester Research rated Intesa Sanpaolo among the three best digital banks in Europe.
Intesa Sanpaolo’s strategy for the future lies with digital, with planned investments of €2.8 billion over three years to 2021, to eventually increase the bank's digitised business to 70 per cent of its total activity.
Global Finance is a monthly financial magazine launched in 1987 as a source of news on the international financial sector. It is distributed in 163 countries worldwide.
Summarising the 2019 rankings, Global Finance stated: “One common theme among many of this year’s winners is that they have taken the lead in adopting the latest banking technology to transform their institutions into banks of the future.”
